Complete Road sweeper provision for large National Utility provider project

Key Project Deliverables

Spanning many miles and with works continuing for the last 11 months. This complex project is vital for our infrastructure. Situated next to a busy residential area, the importance of safety was highlighted as an intrinsic part of all construction works.  As a result of their close partnership on other projects, the Main Contractor utilised the services of Acorn Waste Management to provide a strategy that would ensure works could be undertaken safely at all times.

  • The complex nature of the works meant that site requirements could alter at any time.
  • Working hours would differ depending on time of the year.

Project Objectives

The project would be undertaken at all times of the year and therefore during a diverse range of weather conditions and at times daylight restrictions.

The vital nature of the works meant that delays to construction works had to be avoided.

That at all times the primary focus, above all else, had to be safety of site operatives and local residents.

Proposed Solutions

Acorn Waste Management proposed using multiple road sweepers that would be booked on a cyclic basis and would report to the site manager daily to be given instruction of which part of the site to sweep.

These sweepers would be organised in specific shift patterns to ensure that site had total road sweeper coverage throughout all working hours and in all-weather conditions.

By utilising these sweepers the site would be kept clean from all construction debris resulting in a safe environment for site operatives and residents alike.

Project Summary

  • The site has been kept clean and safe as a result of the constant presence of sweepers during all working hours.
  • In instances where work has continued over the weekend, Acorn Waste Management have provided short notice road sweepers outside of usual working hours.
  • By utilising the same inducted drivers there is now a complete understanding of site works ensuring an excellent and seamless service at all times.
